Janeane Garofalo turned down the part of Monica and instead ended up on Saturday Night Live for the show's infamous 1994-95 season.
Back in the early 90s, the 52-year-old actress originally read for Jennifer Aniston's part Rachel Green, before choosing to take on the role of her best friend Monica. “For some reason, I thought I related more to Monica, which, maybe, it's because I do,” Courteney told the Off Camera With Sam Jones podcast.
According to Vulture, Favreau was chosen to play Chandler Bing on Friends but declined the part in order to work on other projects. However, the actor did return to the series in a six-episode arc in Season 4.
